Since his debut in 1976, he has been a director and producer at the forefront of Korean popular culture, spanning comedy, film and special effects. A pioneer of Korean special-effects filmmaking and digital VFX, he made D-WAR in 2007 the first Korean film to receive a wide release in the United States.
